This is a great story of how a person in Mexico was able to be connected with a mentor in Chile using the tools we have helped to create.

The site she mentions is yoenfrento.com and was developed by our team several years ago in partnership with the Latin American ministry. It is a translated and contextualized version of the issuesiface.com evangelistic strategy. The mentoring tool they use is our tmm.io software that we make available to a wide range of ministries and churches.

I personally find it incredibly encouraging when I have opportunities to see how the work I do is used by God to help people around the world. This is one of those rare opportunities when I can put faces to the names and numbers I hear about all the time.

I want to say thank you again to those of you who donate financially and pray for us in this ministry. We could not do this without your support. Your gifts allow us to be able to continue serving here at Power to Change and God is working through us in the lives of people around the world.

Live Chat Launched! https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2023/05/26/live-chat-launched Fri, 26 May 23 16:11:58 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=3107

Dear Friends,

I'm excited to tell you about a really cool story that happened just today!

Over the past several months one of my projects has been to build a Live Chat system for our ministry. The goal was to create a tool that we could add to our evangelistic websites which would offer visitors an opportunity to chat right away in real-time with one of our online mentors.

Today we officially launched it on our primary evangelistic website, issuesiface.com!

My boss Sheldon (the director of our ministry) was the first to give it a try as a mentor. In less than an hour Jen (not her real name) popped up asking "i cant get in control of my life".

i cant get in control of my life

Sheldon introduced himself and invited Jen to share more about the issues she wanted to talk about. As they chatted, Jen was able to open up about some of the struggles she is facing. She shared that she is in Botswana and found our site because she went to the Internet searching for help.

Throughout the hour and twenty minutes they talked, Sheldon was able to turn the conversation towards faith. She shared that she was a Christian but hadn't been to church in a while. She allowed Sheldon to pray for her and to offer some suggestions for dealing with the issues she was struggling with.

What an amazing first chat on the new system!

This was such a cool conversation to have as our very first chat interaction. Near the end Jen shared "i really love this website, its the first live chat that was really helpful"

I'm so glad that I get to be part of a ministry that is making a difference in people's lives around the world! I love seeing that the work I do has a direct impact for God's glory.

Thank you too for helping support us in this! Please pray for our team that God would continue to use us to lead people closer to Jesus. That's our goal: to receive people wherever they are at, and lead them closer to Jesus.

As a result of this chat with Sheldon, it sounds like Jen is going to try going back to church. She was encouraged in her faith and given tools to grow deeper in her relationship with the Lord.

Thank you for the part you have played in letting this conversation happen!

Are We Changing Lives For Eternity? https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2023/05/01/are-we-changing-lives-for-eternity Mon, 01 May 23 11:13:54 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=3089

I cannot help wondering sometimes if our work is really making a difference. Are we bringing hope to the hopeless? Are we making a difference in people's lives for eternity?

Carolanne and I donate funds towards this ministry in the same way several of you who receive this newsletter do. Are our gifts really being used to change lives and point people towards Jesus?

My own work in this is often behind the scenes building the software that allows ministry to take place. As such I don't often see the direct impact of what I do. Is it really making a difference?

To answer these questions, this morning I started to read through some of the stories and emails that have come in just in the last few hours. I'd like to share a little of what I found with you.

I'm failing at every point and its getting hard for me now, I can't find the motivation to get up and try again. I want to give my best achieve everything and I want to end it all at the same time

8 minutes ago from N**** in Delhi, India

Because of the fact that this message contained the words "I want to end it all", our system flagged it as a more urgent crisis and sent an immediate response with several suicide and counselling hotlines designed specifically for people in India. This was a feature of our mentoring system that I built several years ago, specifically for our growing India ministry. I'm glad to see it is working well!

The system has also assigned it to a mentor who wants to answer messages from India and has specifically taken our "Offering Hope in Crisis" training. And, since N**** has told us she is female, the system also chose a female mentor to respond.

As I continue to read through the messages I see people asking for help, asking for prayer, confessing sin and several considering suicide. It's hard to read and even harder to know how to help. Many of the messages are in languages that I don't speak or understand. Chinese, Portuguese, Hungarian, Russian, Slovak, Polish. That's just the past hour or two. I'm very thankful that we have over 1000 mentors from a variety of cultures and languages who are willing and able to receive these requests and help to guide people towards hope in Christ.

Hi there, as I'm a muslim want to be achristan, can I ask something? I need to what I have to do & who do help me exactly after I except Christianity.

M. A. from Pennsylvania through partnership with Luis Palau Association

Not only do we respond to these messages ourselves, but we partner with several other amazing ministries and churches working toward the same mission. We offer our tools like the mentoring system for free to these organizations so that they too can easily respond to people seeking God.

The message above was responded to by one of the Luis Palau mentors who was able to encourage M. A. to get connected to a local church.

You and I play a critical part in bringing HOPE to people worldwide!

As a result of your prayer and financial gifts and with God's grace and provision we have been able to continue in this ministry. Is our work making a difference in people's lives for eternity? Absolutely Yes! God is using these tools to touch the lives of people LITERALLY around the world every day.

Recently we put together a map with a small selection of ministry stories from around the world. You're welcome to check it out here.

Thank YOU!!!

Thank you for standing with us in this ministry. Thank you for holding us up in prayer. For those who give, thank you for using what God has given you to help advance His kingdom.

Please continue to pray for us and for this ministry. Pray for the people who write in every day looking for help, hope and prayer.

Some specific prayer requests at this time:

 • Pray for the several people who have written in recently and are contemplating suicide
 • Pray for more opportunities to connect with more people
 • Pray for wisdom for the mentors to respond with love, grace and hope
 • Pray for funding for our ministry and staff (including us personally)
 • Pray for our new Malay partnership who want to work with us to develop their own evangelistic resources in Malay, Chinese and Indonesian

Thank you!

A Muslim Finds Truth https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2022/11/21/a-muslim-finds-truth Mon, 21 Nov 22 08:40:37 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=3067

The following story was shared recently by our Arabic ministry director. He is an amazing man who loves the Lord dearly and is passionate to reach the Arabic world with the gospel. I love hearing him share stories from the ministry and I hope you will too. The names have been changed for the safety of these new believers.

Salima’s life of privilege and wealth came crashing down when her husband was sent to prison for fraud. It wasn’t until several years later that her life changed for the better.

Aisha happened to be a Christian and invited Salima to church. She quickly accepted the invitation, went to church and, caught up in the moment, she made a profession of faith in Christ. Within a few days, though, Salima felt conflicted, guilty and fearful of Allah’s wrath. She returned to Islam with more tenacity than before.

Like a seed that falls on the path and is pecked away and eaten by birds, her faith did not last more than a month (Matthew 13:18,19). But God was working all the while.

Earlier this year, something changed. There was something in Salima’s heart that she could no longer deny. She began to investigate Christianity further and found our Arabic website, where she connected with our mentors.

Salima had many questions. Her mentors spent hours with her, helping her understand the truth about Islam. Eventually, Salima decided to reject the religion. She wanted the same joy that she remembered Aisha and others at the church had.

Together with her mentors, she studied the Bible and learned what it meant to follow Jesus. Salima decided to make an informed, sincere decision to give her life to Jesus. She is now back at her previous church and in August, she led her daughter to faith in Christ and both of them got baptized!

Thank you for your part in allowing this Muslim lady to find truth and salvation. Your prayer and generous support help us continue in this ministry.

We've Moved! https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2022/09/08/weve-moved Thu, 08 Sep 22 15:50:16 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=3035

A big THANK YOU to everyone who has been praying for us in our move! We have a new home!

We are SO thankful for this new place. We have been here a week as of Wednesday and so far we love it! Though the journey has been rocky and super stressful at times we're thrilled to be finally through and officially moved in.

Thank you for praying for us! We know there have been many who have prayed diligently as we have walked through this process.

A little about the journey so far...

The picture above is the new place that we bought in the small town of Quesnel, about 6.5 hours drive north of where we used to live in Chilliwack. Since my (James) work is entirely online, I can work from anywhere as long as there is good internet connectivity. We started this process back in March, packing boxes into a storage unit and then listing our house for sale in April. We both felt like this was the direction that God was leading us.

One cool example of this was on the day that we were having pictures taken of our place. I had been praying the days before that it would be sunny for the pictures. I really wanted the place to be presented well and so sunshine coming in the windows would be just perfect. But we woke up on the morning of pictures and it was very grey and POURING rain. Still, I hoped for a miracle, though looking outside wasn't very uplifting to my faith. Even 20 minutes before the photographer was scheduled to arrive it was still grey and raining.

Then, the Lord answered my prayer. When the photographer showed up and started taking pictures the rain stopped, the sky opened up, and sunshine shone through. There are very few times I have seen such obvious and unmistakable answers to my prayers, but this was one of them. I know it might seem trivial in the grand scheme of things, but it was very meaningful to me and it gave me a little glimpse of what might be to come.

So, we listed our place for sale and the real-estate market in Chilliwack promptly crashed.

The crash...

Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but not much of one. We've talked to real-estate people who say the market turned almost overnight. We lived in a very nice townhouse complex and we saw another place in the same complex sell very quickly shortly before us. In fact, there was a bidding war and it went for $50k over the asking price within a week. However that place was a real "fixer-upper" so to speak. Realtors might say it had "good bones" and just needed "a little elbow grease". We know it needed a LOT of work.

So, we listed slightly higher, thinking we would have no trouble selling our nice, move-in-ready place. We wanted to sell because we really wanted to get into a larger place, in a quieter area with more room for the kids to roam and play. Not to mention we anticipated that Ben would want to park a car on the driveway soon enough.

But then, after listing with high hopes, nothing happened. No offers. Very few showings. We started to wonder if we picked the wrong agent, but he seemed to be doing what he could. We even ran into a few other agents who said he had mentioned our place to them.

After a month and a half the realtor encouraged us to consider lowering our price. We grudgingly hacked a year's wages off the price tag and waited for the lower offers to flow in. We hoped that we had taken enough off to capture people's interest and maybe still get bids over what we were asking. Yet, still nothing.

After what seemed like years, we finally received a very low offer for our place in July. This was another $35k lower than what we had already lowered our price to. At first we did not want to consider it. It was too low. It was far less even than the dumpy unit that sold in the bidding war down the lane. It was almost an insult!

However, time was moving on, and since we were planning to go further north we really wanted to be moved into a new place before the snow hit. After more thought and prayer we decided to accept their offer. Not having any insight yet into where we might move, we agreed to a possession date for the end of August. That gave us 1.5 months to find a place, make an offer, verify all the particulars and do the move.

The search...

Throughout all of this we had already been looking for new places up in Quesnel. We chose this town because of a combination of factors. We love the climate and terrain. We really wanted to live in a smaller, quieter, more peaceful area. We were constantly running into folks who spoke highly of the town. We could almost afford a proper house here. And two of Carolanne's brothers already lived here. When my sister and brother-in-law decided to move up to Prince George, (1.5 hours north of Quesnel) that clinched the decision.

Having accepted the offer on our place, we searched for homes with even greater vigor. I had multiple realtors sending listings to me, along with several automated systems watching for any new place or development. I scoured hundreds of listings looking for just the right place. We even put offers in on a few of them, though we were usually out-bid by others.

I think the Lord continues to have a sense of humour because in the end, in spite of the automated internet robots alerting me to anything new, and the multiple realtors watching for possible places, and my own constant searching, it ended up being Carolanne who found this place while casually browsing on Facebook marketplace. I'm so glad she did!

We moved in on Aug. 31'st. Now we have begun the long and tedious process of unpacking boxes and figuring out where everything is going to go. There are a few little things around the house that need fixing or repairing (hot water tank, fridge and some painting to name a few) but in general the place has been well kept and we're very happy with where we have landed.

Thanks!!!

Thank you again for praying for us! We really have appreciated all the support that folks have expressed to us and how many people have prayed for us during this move. It's a big deal to move a family that far. The kids had never moved before, and Carolanne has never lived outside the Fraser Valley. Thankfully since we homeschool there is less school exchange stress. We are going to continue with the homeschooling. We're still not sure exactly how prepared we are for the imminent snow. But we know that God continues to be with us and we trust He is guiding our steps.

As mentioned above, I James am continuing to work as a missionary with Power to Change. That part of our lives has not changed. I still serve with the internet based ministry called Digital Strategies (under P2C) and spend most of my day writing computer code used by our ministry and others to present the gospel and mentor people around the world.

We also still have many friends and family members who donate regularly to support us financially in this ministry. We are super thankful for each one who gives so faithfully and generously to help advance this kingdom work. Thank you for your continued gifts and prayer.

Our ministry really depends on these gifts and donations from people who understand the opportunity and impact, and who give generously to support it. If you would like to give to help support this online ministry, click here to go to our secure ministry giving form.

Thanks again on behalf of all of us,

James

Stories From The Field https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2022/02/25/stories-from-the-field Fri, 25 Feb 22 10:34:36 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=3003

Dear Friends,

I wanted to share with you some stories that were shared recently by our ministry. These come from the monthly newsletter that is sent out by our team. If you wish, you can read the whole thing here:

https://mailchi.mp/p2cdigital.com/something-good-is-on-the-way

Here are a few key excerpts that I thought you might like. The first pertains to the current crisis in Ukraine and how we can respond as Christians in prayer.

"As I write this to you, hundreds of Ukrainians are displaced and fleeing for their lives. At the same time, millions of Christians around the world are praying for peace, repentance, protection, and deliverance from evil. To help you lament and pray for those in Ukraine, here is a guide that our global office put together."

One area in which I've been spending a fair bit of time is developing the software modifications needed for a newer partner of our ministry called OnlineCare.

OnlineCare provides crisis pregnancy and abortion grief support through their online, peer counselling service to clients across Canada - and now, with our ministry's help, internationally, too! They partner with the 82 pregnancy care centres across the country and seek to support those who are not yet ready to receive in-person support or do not have access to a pregnancy care centre nearby.

OnlineCare started using a customized version of TMM.io last August and, since then, we've been able to help their peer counsellors respond to 333% more clients in just six weeks!

Over the past few months I've had the privilege of working with the OnlineCare team to customize our mentoring software helping make their ministry even more effective. They shared this beautiful story with us recently.

Seven months ago, Jenna found out she was pregnant. She struggled to imagine raising a child with her abusive husband and contemplated terminating her pregnancy. Jenna turned to OnlineCare and found a compassionate, supportive peer counsellor in Nelly. Nelly encouraged her to connect with a local pregnancy care centre in Ontario for support and counsel. Although Jenna moved back to her home country for safety and family support, Nelly continued to walk with her throughout her journey through TMM.io.

Two weeks ago, Jenna gave birth to her baby girl, two months earlier than expected. Nelly has continued to encourage Jenna with scripture and points her to resources as she navigates this new season of motherhood.

"I know God or whoever is up there is looking out for me and my baby girl. He is giving me strength and wisdom to choose the best path for me and my baby... We are more than grateful to have your support half way around the world... " - Jenna

Learn more about our partner, OnlineCare: https://www.onlinecare.ca

Thank you for continuing to pray and support us in this ministry. We feel honored to have such a faithful team standing with us.

Big Journeys & Small Stones https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2018/07/30/big-journeys-small-stones Mon, 30 Jul 18 16:31:11 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2757 Click to see full size. Since we were in the area, we also took the opportunity to visit the West Edmonton Mall with the kids and see the various activities they had there. Even I learned something new, never knowing before that there is a roller-coaster park inside the mall as well as the ice-rink, water-park, seal show and apparently a petting-zoo which we never found. The kids of course were almost immediately attracted to the Disney store and Build-a-Bear. We even ended up visiting the Edmonton zoo for free since our Fraser Valley zoo pass also works out there. The main zoo attraction for us was Lucy the elephant who apparently roams the zoo outside her enclosure for large portions of the day. For the last portion of our trip, we went to Drumheller to see the dinosaur museum and attractions they had in that area. For a small town, they sure had some big dinosaurs... See the kids just between it's toes? :) After returning from Alberta, my next destination was to be Hamilton, ON for our Power to Change Staff Conference. Normally this is something I am required to go to and is usually a great time of reconnecting as a team and being refreshed as an organization. We hear about progress and events from other ministries and are refocused in vision as an organization. This year however, was different. I had already purchased my tickets for WestJet and had even checked in online so I would be ready to board, but the night before I was to leave I started having some severe pain in my side and back with what felt like a kidney stone. I had already had another batch of pain and trips to the emergency room a few days before, and they had sent me home with a prescription for pain killers, but I was hoping the pain had passed. However, the night (or actually early morning) that I was supposed to leave, I had to make the decision to cancel the flight, and instead go back into the emergency room. This time they kept me for several hours, took various tests, blood-work and a CT scan. Long-story short, I have several kidney stones, one of which is causing the pain, and several more tests and scans to complete over the coming weeks. ? ?

A Ministry Story:

A couple weeks ago, we received a message that was sent in from our issuesiface.com website in which a lady (I'll call her Sarah) shared that her relationship with her boyfriend was headed in entirely the wrong direction. She didn't ask for any specific prayer or information... just shared her concern with us, an anonymous online website. Our system estimated that Sarah was from Kenya, and as such matched her up with another female mentor on our team who is ALSO from Kenya. After some discussion about the relationship with this boyfriend, the mentor asked Sarah about her relationship with God. The mentor shared that our relationship with God is broken as well and that He wants us to be committed to Him, just as we want commitment in relationships with others. She asked if Sarah had ever made a commitment to God.
Yes. I would like to make a commitment. I really need God in my life.
Sarah's response was exactly as you see above. This gave the mentor an open invitation to share with her what it meant to be committed to God. Using her training and a template we provided as a starting point, the mentor was able to share a very clear message with Sarah about what it means and how to commit her life to Christ. Sarah has written back to her mentor and shared that she is "ready to begin a life with Christ". They continue the conversation to this day.

Prayer Requests:

Please pray for us in the following areas.
 1. That the ministry would continue to grow in effectiveness as we form new partnerships and seek out new and more creative ways to reach people with God's love using the internet.
 2. That more people would be inspired to join our staff in reaching the world with the gospel.
 3. For staff and family health. We have several staff members (including myself) who are undergoing at times severe health issues and concerns.
 4. Wisdom, patience, unity and grace for our family as we will soon enter another year of homeschooling our kids.
Thank you so much for continuing to hold our family up in prayer. We really appreciate having such an amazing team of friends and supporters standing with us in this ministry. Sincerely, James & Carolanne]]>
Ministering In India And Expecting Twins https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2018/03/22/india-and-twins Fri, 23 Mar 18 15:09:32 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2697 Partnerships In India Our team has been busy the past few months, and one of the biggest developments has been the formation of several partnerships with groups and lay-leaders serving on the ground in India. ?? The nation of India is a huge potential mission-field with a population of 1.3 billion people with only 2.3% claiming Christianity as their religion.* We are in the process of building partnerships with several different groups right now who would like to use our mentoring software to reach and mentor people in their respective areas of India and Bangladesh. ? Please pray for these partnerships, that the Lord would use the folks on the ground, and the tools we provide, to share the love of Christ with many in the nation of India. Pray especially for our director Sheldon as he and a small team will be traveling out there to meet with leaders in-country and finalize some of the details required to allow this ministry to happen. * Source: Wikipedia Donation Matching Update A few months ago I mentioned that there is a special donor who has partnered with The Life Project to financially match any gifts that we are able to raise, up to $100,000. This gift has been a HUGE blessing to our whole team and we have all been working together to take this opportunity to raise funds in order to take advantage of the matching. Essentially it has meant that every additional donation we receive is duplicated with a gift to The Life Project. ? ? I am really excited to tell you that working together as a team we have raised the full $100,000! In fact, the donor making the match has been quite impressed and has pledged an additional $50,000 until the end of June. ? ? As part of this funding drive, Carolanne and I have personally been praying for and trying to raise an additional $250/month in monthly support. Though one-time gifts are VERY helpful, these monthly donations are especially critical to us, since we are still a long way from having our full monthly support. Encouraging Stories What would a newsletter be without "stories from the field"?! ? Since my role on the team is very technical, I went looking for a good story from one of our more "front-line" staff. I found this, which reminded me again why I do this work. This was written by one of our online chat coordinators:
One of the greatest joys so far this quarter is the salvation of an expectant teenager who came into the room in January, fearful that she'd be pushed into an abortion. That first evening, she accepted Christ as her Savior. The next day her boyfriend came to the room and made the decision to follow Christ as well. Soon she reported that she'd been to a pregnancy resource center where she'd joined a Bible study and was getting help. The last I heard, they had gotten married and had found out that she's expecting twins. Both of these young people come from homes where parents do not yet know the Lord, so do join us in prayer for their salvation.
Praise the Lord ? ? for how He continues to work every day through the faithful service of our team using the tools I have the honor of helping to build. Thank you for your part in allowing us to be a part of this ministry. Prayer Requests ? We truly appreciate the great team of friends, supporters and prayer warriors who stand with us in this ministry. We are reminded quite often that we couldn't do this job without you. Please continue to pray for us in the following areas:
 • Sheldon's trip to India (see above)
 • More technical staff We are looking for a few more people to join our technical team. Specifically a front-end designer and a back-end programmer.
Lets Get Together! If you have any questions about our ministry, or would like to hear more, we would love to connect further. If you live somewhere in or around the Fraser Valley, BC, we could easily get together for coffee, pie or a meal. ? Why not drop us a note? Click here to leave us a note on our website form. It goes to both Carolanne and I (James). Or, if you got this by email, just hit "Reply". We would love to hear from you.]]>
The Recent Prayer Letter https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2017/12/12/the-recent-prayer-letter Tue, 12 Dec 17 14:53:40 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2679 Hi there! Most of you should now have received the end of year prayer letter that we recently sent out by mail.** Thank you for taking the time to take a look through it. We hope you like the family picture prayer card that was included. Getting kids to sit still and not make faces for a brief second to get a good picture is surprisingly hard! ? ** If you didn't happen to receive the letter, we would love to send it to you but we probably don't have proper address information. Let us know where to send it using our private contact form and we'll get you one as soon as we can. Thank you for upholding our ministry in prayer. (and for some of you financially as well) We really appreciate having you standing with us in the ministry. In the letter, I mentioned that we currently have a special donor who has pledged to match up to $100,000 of donations given to us or other staff members in the ministry. If you have not yet given toward this, I would like to encourage you again to consider taking advantage of this gift. During this time, any gift you give will have a matching gift given to The Life Project. That is TREMENDOUSLY helpful to us and to the ministry. We have been asked to put a special emphasis on trying to raise an additional $250 in MONTHLY donations. This means people who join our team and commit to give $50/$100/$200 or some other amount every month. If you let us know of your commitment, we can count the whole annual amount toward the matching. So, for example, if you decide to give or increase your gift $50 per month and let us know, we can count $600 toward the matching! Please do not feel pressured by any of this. If you are already giving or have been holding us up in prayer, we really do appreciate it. THANK YOU for sticking with us.

A Changed Life...

I did not want this entire letter to be about fundraising, so I went searching for a cool story of someone who's life is being changed by Jesus. I found John* who wrote in on one of our sites just a few days ago from Nigeria asking "If God is all knowing, did he knows those who will go to hell?, if he knows, then why did he created them?" He was connected with one of our more experienced mentors who replied that "God created each one of us and gave us free will, to either accept Him or reject Him. He is always waiting for each one of us to make that decision." The mentor also invited John to make a personal decision for himself to follow Jesus. Just a couple messages later, John writes "Thank you so much. I just invited Jesus into my life. I love the conclusion part of the prayer which says "make me the person you want me to be Lord"" Thank you for praying for people like John*, for this ministry and for us. Your gifts and your prayers allow us to continue serving here with The Life Project. * names changed for privacy If you would like to give a gift today online, you can do so on the secure giving form on The Life Project's website. It's Good To Be Appreciated https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2017/10/26/its-good-to-be-appreciated Tue, 17 Oct 17 16:49:03 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2667 Here are just a few of the many thanks we've received from our readers and mentees: "I used the mentor program at a very dark time in my life and it really helped to see my way back to Christ. Thank you, I had you when I had nothing else." “Both times that you have prayed for me, I’ve literally read it with tears rolling down my face. Nobody has ever been this nice to me. I’ve been pretty much abandoned by everyone in my family, both my husband’s side & mine, so for you to pray for me means the absolute world to me. I thank God for having me find this website!” "Thank you. Honestly I didn't think I would get a reply from the study. It honestly made my day. God knows exactly what we need. I want a relationship WITH him, not religion. ... Thank you so much for the articles and encouragement. God bless you!" "Your posts are a treasure and I am reading them all and taking notes! ... I'm so glad I found this site! A true encouragement for me! Thank you SO much!"

Muslim man is offended, but later comes to Christ https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2017/10/11/muslim-man-is-offended-but-later-comes-to-christ Wed, 11 Oct 17 22:42:44 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2630 Mohamed,* a 30-year old man, was born and raised in a Muslim family in Morocco. Mohamed found himself late one night surfing on the internet. Something odd caught his eye and so he Googled a search and found himself on one of our website pages that had a message that provoked him: “How can a Muslim become a Christian?” (The four Spiritual Laws)
“The Bible is full of errors and is corrupted! It is not scientifically sound."
He contacted us through WhatsApp (instant messaging text and audio service for smartphones). Mohamed fiercely challenged Paul, the director of our Arabic ministry: “The Bible is full of errors and is corrupted! It is not scientifically sound." He was ready for a fight but Paul responded calmly and shared with him his testimony — about why 14 years ago, he left Islam to follow Christ. By the next day Mohamed's irritation had grown. Ready for an argument he called Paul again and was even more aggressive. Yet Paul felt compassion for him and responded to his anger with empathy: "I was once like you too. I understand your anger. But let us continue to discuss these things together." And so they continued to talk together — it was an intense and seriously academic dialogue that continued for days and days. But after a time, Paul noticed that Mohamed was no longer argumentative and had entered into a genuine search for truth.
"I have found the truth."
Paul gave Mohamed many videos and links to go deeply in his search for the truth. And then one day, he told Paul: "I have found the truth." Mohamed had given his life to Christ! Paul connected him with other former-Muslim believers online. In this online group there is ongoing Bible Study, friendship, prayer, discipleship, mutual fellowship and encouragement. This online group will equip Mohamed as a Muslim Background Believer (MBB) to continue in Christ, rooted and built-up in Him, established in the faith and overflowing with thankfulness (Colossians 2:6,7).
It takes time, knowledge, and patient endurance to bring Muslims to Christ. It usually takes a process which involves weeks, months, and sometimes years and yet it all starts with a gesture of friendliness and a genuine desire for relationship. These are the stories that encourage me in this ministry. Thank you for your part in helping us to continue here at The Life Project. Your financial gifts and prayers are so very much appreciated!

God Jams a Gun https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2017/04/04/god-jams-a-gun Tue, 04 Apr 17 12:09:22 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2583 issuesiface.com called Sexual Abuse: Hidden Things. She connected with a mentor who had journeyed through the long process of finding healing from sexual abuse. In the course of their correspondence, the mentee wrote:
“I just wanted someone to know and understand how bad it has gotten for me. When I sent the last message to you, I was done and was going to end it. I got my gun out, sat there for quite a while, prayed for forgiveness, and then I stuck it to my head. I attempted to pull the trigger but it wouldn't fire, I couldn't believe it. At that moment, I knew Jesus was present and he had intervened. I called a friend of mine, told her what happened, and she took me to the hospital."
They continued to journey together. Later the woman gave an update:
”Thank you for your continued prayers. I am visiting some friends and working very hard to put my life back together again. It has been a hard road, nothing has been easy, each day seems to be another memory to work through, but I’m doing it day by day. Thanks again for your prayers."
She continued to improve and then wrote that she got a new job that she loves. Then in one of the last messages, she said,
"I want to thank you for being there for me, you are the one who ultimately helped me find my way back to God. I trusted no one but there was something about you that led me to take a chance and reach out for help. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me to see a message from you, words of encouragement, and real concern for me. It meant more than you could ever know. Thank you for your kindness, your time and most of all, your prayers on my behalf."
Thank you for taking the time to read this and to pray for us as we continue in this ministry. There are so many isolated and hurting people who have no one to confide in face to face. Through your partnership, we can continue to reach those whom God puts in our path. Your gift is used to help people around the world to know Jesus.

Global Daily March 2017 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2017/03/16/global-daily-march-2017 Thu, 16 Mar 17 16:41:17 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2580 Priscilla - A Mentor's Story https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2016/07/26/priscilla-a-mentors-story Thu, 28 Jul 16 17:31:01 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2519 /2016/07/26/priscilla-a-mentors-story/ https://vimeo.com/174239509/4b226bf5aa What an incredible story of service and care from her heart. I love hearing and seeing how the mentors who serve with us care so deeply about the impact they have and the opportunity to make such a difference in the lives of those they mentor. We have such an amazing opportunity to change lives around the world! I know that not all the conversations mentors have with people have results like these ones. Sometimes we write back and never hear anything further. Other times the initial message from the person might be a single word. And yet some of the most powerful stories of lives being changed have come as a result of the mentor persisting in love. And in the end, the job of the mentor is to simply encourage the person to take the next steps in their journey towards knowing Jesus. May I challenge you to consider being a part of this ministry in some way as well? There are many different ways you could help.
 1. Become a mentor! Starting is simple. You can get your feet wet by going to https://tmm.io/. We provide the training right there and you can start in as little as 5 minutes. Don't worry, we start you off VERY easy and you control how much you want to take on.
 2. Join our team! We need good tech people, writers and communicators. Find out more on our site: https://thelifeproject.com/join
 3. Give generously! God has placed His resources in our barns to be invested wisely in His kingdom work. From a business finance perspective, the ROI in this ministry is HUGE. This is the parable of the talents in action! Prayerfully consider whether this is something He would want His funds to be used for. Learn how you can give here: /help-us-keep-ministering/
 4. Subscribe! We send out period newsletters with updates from our ministry and personal lives. Sign up here.
 5. Ask Questions! If you came here and don't understand what all this is about, or you haven't yet made the decision to start your relationship with God, I would love to talk with you and try to answer your questions. You can contact me or Carolanne privately on our contact form. We would love to hear from you. OR read more about what we believe here.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you would be interested in hearing more about our ministry, I would love to get together for coffee or dinner. Don't hesitate to talk to me. All the best, James Warkentin]]>
