Today I want to share a couple short stories from our one-to-one mentoring strategy. One mentee who tried to commit suicide one year ago wrote this to his online mentor: I now know for certain that I am not suicidal at all anymore because of Jesus ... I have to give the main credit to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Another mentee, L* from the UK, was struggling with isolation and broken family relationships. L's mentor from Armenia connected her with a local church which turned out to be the same place L's sister had recently come to faith. As L and her sister reconnected, healing began to take root in their relationship and the distance between them faded. But more than that, L discovered that God could be a Father to her after the pain of losing her earthly father. We see God working in relationships like these on a daily basis! Thank you for continuing to hold up our ministry in prayer.

Dear Friends, Thank you for your prayer and support of us. This year James has been working on creating software that allows our Digital Strategies ministry to expand into more of a community-based mentoring focus. The DS ministry is hoping to begin creating safe communities for evangelism and discipleship in addition to the one-to-one mentoring we already do. Please pray for wisdom as James continues building the software to support these strategies. On the family side, this year our kids are continuing with homeschool in grades 12 and 10. This has been a bit of a transition for us. These later grades are much more self-directed as they work with their online teachers on the various highschool courses. Dear Friends, Thank you for your continued prayer for us in Power to Change's Digital Strategies ministry. We feel blessed to have so many who care about and pray for us so faithfully. Praise the Lord with us for a young woman who has been in conversation with one of our mentors for over two years and just recently gave her life to Christ. She is now attending an evangelical church with friends and has been invited by the mentor to a follow-up series to help her and her friends grow in faith. Please continue to pray specifically for the mentors who serve with our ministry. Often it can be disheartening when they don't see much progress in a person for a long period of time. However, praise reports like this remind us that God continues to work in people's hearts, even over the long-haul.

Dear Friends, Thank you for your prayers for us in this ministry. One of our partners is a ministry in Malaysia who is using our online tools to reach people in their area who speak Chinese, Indonesian and English. Please pray for us and them as we work together building and translating resources that will allow their mentors to share the gospel with the lost in this region. Pray also for a new partnership we are forming with a ministry in Albania. The Albanian ministry wants to translate our IssuesIFace.com strategy into Albanian to reach their people. Pray that the launch would go smoothly and that God would use them effectively to reach the lost.

Dear friends, Thank you for your prayer for us and this ministry. The summer season is often a bit quieter, with many staff taking time off to spend with family or on holidays. For me it is often a time to catch up on tasks that have been further back in my todo list. One area I have particularly been focusing on is the development of mobile apps that our mentors can use to keep in touch with their mentees. This is also an area of programming where I'm still learning. Pray that these apps would be put to good use and would bring significant improvement to the communication between mentors and mentees. Continue to pray also for our visitors and for the mentors who respond to them, that they would have the opportunity to clearly present Jesus. Thank you!

Dear Friends, One of the churches that support us ask if we can write a monthly update for their prayer newsletter. I thought it would be appropriate to share with you as well, so that you too may be encouraged by hearing what is happening in the ministry. This is our update for July: --- Thank you so much for praying for us over the past months. God is using this ministry to make a significant difference in the lives of people around the world. A team member recently shared this story from the mentoring ministry. Mary*, a young adult student in Georgia, US has been struggling with self-ham since February and has been very suicidal - she actually called emergency for help and felt no one really cared for her. One of our mentors has been walking alongside her and encouraging her to consider surrendering her life to Jesus: This is what she said last week to her mentor: "I have never said the sinner's prayer inviting Jesus as my personal Savior could you lead me?" Please continue to pray for this young woman and the many others who write to us daily looking for help and hope. --- I (James) want to thank you too: our friends, supporters and prayer partners, for your ongoing prayer and support of us in this ministry. May Update 2024

Dear Friends, Happy Spring! Carolanne and I are glad to see the weather getting warmer and the garden starting to grow. I love seeing and hearing the birds back again after their winter travels. We are seeing growth in the ministry as well. Some areas in particular that I've been involved with have been continuing development of live-chat as well as building a mobile app. We hope that these tools will help our mentors communicate even more effectively with those coming to us for help and prayer. Dear Friends, Thank you for your prayer for us as we continue in ministry with Power to Change. This past January we were excited to see 152 people decide to follow Jesus through one-on-one conversations with mentors and on our evangelistic websites. Furthermore, 4008 people were connected with a mentor through [tmm.io](https://tmm.io/) and 9 new mentors were trained to begin responding to these people with love, seeking to lead them closer to Jesus. Please pray for our mentors as every day they are responding to hundreds of people coming to us for help, support and prayer. Pray also for the people to whom the mentors are ministering, that they would experience Jesus love and draw closer to Him. And pray for our ministry team as we continue training mentors, building resources to connect with seekers, and developing tools for more effective ministry. Thank you! James Warkentin

Hello friends! I trust that 2024 has begun well for you. At Digital Strategies we have been continuing to develop the live-chat strategy that I mentioned in December. We want to respond to those who ask us for help as quickly as possible. We are also partnering with three new ministries who want to use the IssuesIFace.com strategy for their countries and cultures. These include Rwanda (first in English, then Kinyarwanda), the Philippines, and a special project designed to reach Indigenous peoples in Canada and the US. Please pray that these new partnerships would flourish and that the online resources they are creating would have a great impact for the gospel in the areas they are reaching. Pray also for our team as we continue training mentors to lead people closer to Jesus. And please pray specifically that God would give us wisdom how to best reach today's culture effectively, with His love, grace and truth. Thank you! James & Carolanne

Dear Friends,

Throughout this past few months our team has been working to develop a new evangelistic mentoring tool called "Live Chat". It enhances our existing mentoring system and allows people seeking help to connect directly with a Christian mentor in real-time. Please pray for our mentors and ministry partners as they begin to learn how to use this new tool. For many it is a big transition, changing from email-style communication to real-time messaging with those that they mentor. Please pray for the mentors in this training and transition period, and pray also for us as we try to provide great resources and support to the mentors. Dear Friends,

Thank you for continuing to pray for us. It is very encouraging to know that we have friends at the church who keep us and this ministry before the Lord in prayer. It seems as though our live-chat tool is being well-received with more partners and ministries beginning to explore how to use it in their context. Translations have been completed for French, Spanish, Farsi, Hindi and Portuguese with more in progress for Arabic and Chinese. Practically, this means that someone from India speaking Hindi could have a live conversation with a Hindi-speaking Christian mentor in our system. Please pray for our ministry and our partners as we explore how to more effectively reach people around the world with the gospel.

Dear CHC Friends,

Thank you for your ongoing prayer for this ministry and for me and my family. In my last update I mentioned that I would be developing a live-chat system for our ministry. This has now been built and we are in the process of testing it and rolling it out to some select partners who are helping us with the testing. We have already had some amazing stories and conversations come out from it's use. Pray that God would continue to give us effectiveness in reaching more searching people with the gospel.

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for your continued prayer and support of us. We are very blessed to have friends and donors who continue to surround us and this ministry in prayer.

As you may know, much of my practical day-to-day activity is writing the back-end code that runs our various software platforms and outreach sites. Right now I'm exploring how we might build a live-chat system where our visitors would be able to talk directly to the mentors while maintaining security and anonymity on both sides. Please pray for wisdom in this process, both for the building of it as well as the development of the over-all strategy.

Please also pray for our continued funding both as a ministry as well as personally.

Finally, pray that God would continue to bring technically minded people to serve with our team.

Dear Friends,

Another year is drawing to a close and I'd like to take these few words to share some more personal thoughts and prayer requests. Our family has been slowly adjusting to our new life since moving up to Quesnel at the end of August. We love it here so far, especially the slower pace and quieter neighborhood. Winter hit early though and we have been scrambling to find good cold-weather gear for each of us. Carolanne does an amazing job finding good deals on gently used supplies.

Pray that God would help us make good connections in our neighborhood and church. Pray also for the kids as they are having some difficulty stepping out and making friends. And continue to pray for our fundraising efforts.
