She had initially unleashed a barrage of accusations finally let go and has invited Jesus into her life. Before doing this she had mentioned her concern about "eternity" and that when I asked her the question: What kind of eternity would you like to live in? Her answer was: "Hopefully an eternity in Heaven and not Hell. I now want to know Jesus and I want to spend eternity with him." The Holy Spirit is working in her life. God is so gracious and does it in His time. > — An online mentor We have continued to see some great progress taking place in the ministry the past few months. In the first quarter of 2025 we saw over 12,000 people being mentored by 592 volunteer mentors. On the evangelistic websites, **44,000 people** were exposed to some form of gospel message and **151 people told us they made a decision to follow Jesus!** The past few months, in addition to his regular work with [Digital Strategies](https://p2cdigital.com) (DS), James has had the privilege of helping out several other ministries within Power to Change. He has helped with website development work for the over-all [P2C site](https://p2c.com), [P2C Students](https://p2c.com/students), [FamilyLifeCanada](https://www.familylifecanada.com) and [Drime](https://drime.p2c.com). He also continues to work at improving the software used by the volunteer mentors in DS and he is working on developing new ways to build more community-based tools for evangelism and discipleship. ## Thank You! *Thank you for your faithful prayer and financial support for us in this ministry!* We **tremendously** appreciate everyone who prays for us and gives financially. Thank you for your faithfulness and generousity. If you don't happen to know much about who we are or what we do, we would love to chat with you further. Please feel free to reach out. Last year at this time we had just gotten settled and were getting used to living here in Quesnel. There was fresh snow on the ground and we weren’t sure what to expect from the upcoming winter. Today there is again fresh snow, we have been living here a little over a year and have experienced all the seasons, including winter, summer, mosquito, and bear season. We really love living here. Both Carolanne and I feel that this has been a really good move for our family. It’s a quieter pace of life, more light and sunshine, and a friendly community. Carolanne loves being able to have a garden, and she was able to grow a number of veggies that we enjoyed over the summer and fall. Ben enjoys biking and spent many hours riding around the quieter streets of our neighbourhood and in town. Julia has grown to like attending the weekly youth events at our church and hanging out with a new friend. And I have appreciated having more room in the garage to work on odd jobs. The kids are continuing on with homeschool. Last year for grade 10 we switched Ben into a new program with a school called Heritage and this year we did the same for grade 9 with Julia. It has been a bit of a challenge since this school (and grade 10 in general) is more structured than their previous experiences. However, they are both catching on and we feel that this has been a good direction to go with their education. We have both been very grateful to attend a life-group for new people to in our church. We have been meeting weekly for over a year now, with a break during the summer. It’s been a really great opportunity to connect with other local couples and study the Bible together. ### MINISTRY STATUS This year I spent quite a bit of time developing a new “Live Chat” tool that our mentors can use to connect with people looking for help. When mentors activate the tool, it starts inviting website visitors to come and chat in real-time with someone who can help encourage and pray for them right then and there. At the time I write this we are working to train our English speaking mentors how to engage in this form of ministry. We are also translating and releasing the software and training in several other languages and countries. Another interesting project we’ve been exploring is how we might engage with the online video gaming demographic. There are large and vibrant communities of online gamers who might never set foot into a church, but meet regularly to play and stream video games together. Some of these include popular Christian influencers who aren’t sure how to transition to a discussion of Jesus. One of my team members is exploring how we might help build a safe space for gamers to come and talk about faith! These are just a couple of the many different projects, strategies and partnerships that the Digital Strategies ministry has been pursuing. Our ministry equips mentors to respond to more than 75,000 people each year who reach out to us via our websites. We also partner with 80+ churches and ministries in 128 countries who use our tools to increase their reach and impact. ***Thank you for helping us continue to serve with P2C :: Digital Strategies!*** Carolanne and I are incredibly thankful to have people like you standing with us in prayer and financial support as we continue in this ministry. We depend on the generosity of others like you to continue serving in these areas. If you can help with a special gift this year, it would be a huge blessing both to us and to the ministry. You can find ways to give at this link. [jamesandcarolanne.com/give](https://jamesandcarolanne.com/give/) Thank you so much for keeping us in your prayers and your hearts. Wishing you all the best, James & Carolanne Ben, Julia & Hershey]]> The Recent Prayer Letter https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2017/12/12/the-recent-prayer-letter Tue, 12 Dec 17 14:53:40 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2679 Hi there! Most of you should now have received the end of year prayer letter that we recently sent out by mail.** Thank you for taking the time to take a look through it. We hope you like the family picture prayer card that was included. Getting kids to sit still and not make faces for a brief second to get a good picture is surprisingly hard! ? ** If you didn't happen to receive the letter, we would love to send it to you but we probably don't have proper address information. Let us know where to send it using our private contact form and we'll get you one as soon as we can. Thank you for upholding our ministry in prayer. (and for some of you financially as well) We really appreciate having you standing with us in the ministry. In the letter, I mentioned that we currently have a special donor who has pledged to match up to $100,000 of donations given to us or other staff members in the ministry. If you have not yet given toward this, I would like to encourage you again to consider taking advantage of this gift. During this time, any gift you give will have a matching gift given to The Life Project. That is TREMENDOUSLY helpful to us and to the ministry. We have been asked to put a special emphasis on trying to raise an additional $250 in MONTHLY donations. This means people who join our team and commit to give $50/$100/$200 or some other amount every month. If you let us know of your commitment, we can count the whole annual amount toward the matching. So, for example, if you decide to give or increase your gift $50 per month and let us know, we can count $600 toward the matching! Please do not feel pressured by any of this. If you are already giving or have been holding us up in prayer, we really do appreciate it. THANK YOU for sticking with us.

A Changed Life...

I did not want this entire letter to be about fundraising, so I went searching for a cool story of someone who's life is being changed by Jesus. I found John* who wrote in on one of our sites just a few days ago from Nigeria asking "If God is all knowing, did he knows those who will go to hell?, if he knows, then why did he created them?" He was connected with one of our more experienced mentors who replied that "God created each one of us and gave us free will, to either accept Him or reject Him. He is always waiting for each one of us to make that decision." The mentor also invited John to make a personal decision for himself to follow Jesus. Just a couple messages later, John writes "Thank you so much. I just invited Jesus into my life. I love the conclusion part of the prayer which says "make me the person you want me to be Lord"" Thank you for praying for people like John*, for this ministry and for us. Your gifts and your prayers allow us to continue serving here with The Life Project. * names changed for privacy If you would like to give a gift today online, you can do so on the secure giving form on The Life Project's website. New Facebook Page https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2012/04/29/new-facebook-page Sun, 29 Apr 12 22:05:37 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=1651 brand new FaceBook page for our personal ministry updates. If you would like to be informed when we post new items, you simply need to LIKE the page and our updates should start appearing in your FaceBook news feeds. We'll try to keep things fairly up-to-date with current projects and exciting stories from the field. We will still be sending out the email newsletters as well, but will be more along the lines of monthly updates (what they've currently been) instead of short, more frequent, blurbs. You can find the page on FaceBook here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/James-and-Carolannes-Ministry/368749249826808]]> November 2011 Updates https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2011/11/04/november-2011-updates Fri, 04 Nov 11 15:58:12 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=1438 I was privileged to speak in our church recently about our need for more volunteers to help us answer the many emails coming in from the sites. The talk seemed to go well and we have had a very encouraging response so far. If you would like to know more about how you could help us with this, check out the video about it here: http://powertochange.com/itv/spirituality/become-a-mentor/ We have been receiving quite a number of messages from people on the sites, both as emails directly to us, as well as just from people commenting on articles. In fact, I just recently shared a really neat story about someone who came to our site with questions about God and was encouraged. Click here to read it. We also have a number of prayer requests right now and if you could uphold us in these areas, we would really appreciate it.
 • For our financial support. We still have a long way to go. Praise the Lord for those who have recently joined our team.
 • For more volunteers. We need more people to help respond to the many questions and prayer requests we receive from the websites. Visit www.truthmedia.com/mentor for information on how you could help.
 • For the daily new believers that we try to help grow in their new faith.
 • For the protection and guidance of all the staff and volunteers. Many are struggling themselves with various life situations. Sometimes it seems as though working with this ministry results in a large target being placed on your back for Satan to shoot flaming arrows at. Pray that God would give each of us courage and strength for the work, and that He would provide generously for each of our needs.
Thank you so much for all your prayers for us. We could not continue in this ministry without dedicated people standing with us and interceding for us. All the best, James (and Carolanne) Warkentin]]>
Recent Updates https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2011/08/24/august-newsletter Wed, 24 Aug 11 10:18:59 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=1349 The encouraging part in that is we have seen a matching rise in people telling us they have accepted Christ or rededicated their lives. In March, we had around 1400 people who indicated they made spiritual decisions. In July, that number was over 2200 people! Praise the Lord that He is using our small efforts for His own glory and is making us effective in sharing the good news of the Gospel. Thank you for your part in allowing us to continue in this ministry. We really couldn't do it without you standing with us. As the traffic grows, so do the responses. We are currently in need of more mentors to minister to and connect with those who are coming to us wanting to talk about both their spiritual and life issues. Several articles have hundreds of comments on them and active conversation are taking place all over the site. You can learn more about becoming a mentor at http://bit.ly/pRQZad Becoming a volunteer with our ministry can be a really rewarding way to get involved. We recently had a visit from a volunteer couple Donald and Nancy, from the New York area. Several years ago, Donald had been searching for a devotional and ended up on the Power to Change site. He got involved, helping to run one of our small groups in chat. He is now leading that group. Donald talked about how much this ministry has meant to him. Here is one of the stories he shared.
One day we had a fellow come to chat who shared that he was heavily involved in drugs and alcohol and needed help. Donald suggested that that everyone in the room pray for him. That prayer soon lead to the new comer realizing that he needed a personal relationship with God. As the members in the room lead this man through the sinner’s prayer Donald began to realize what an impact a Christian online chat can have. “I just love it” he says. Our newcomer is a regular in chat and says he is slowly recovering.
It’s an incredible privilege to hear the stories and see the impact of the time that mentors devote to sharing God’s love in this powerful way. If you would like to participate with us in this way, you can learn more about it by watching the video at: http://bit.ly/pRQZad Thank you again so much for your prayer and support of us in this. We really feel blessed to have so many caring people standing behind us in this. You can read more about what we're doing along with more stories like these on our blog at: http://ministry.jamesandcarolanne.com/ Wishing you all the best this summer/fall season, James and Carolanne Warkentin]]>
