Thank you for your ongoing prayer for this ministry and for me and my family. In my last update I mentioned that I would be developing a live-chat system for our ministry. This has now been built and we are in the process of testing it and rolling it out to some select partners who are helping us with the testing. We have already had some amazing stories and conversations come out from it's use. Pray that God would continue to give us effectiveness in reaching more searching people with the gospel.

Dear Friends,

Another year is drawing to a close and I'd like to take these few words to share some more personal thoughts and prayer requests. Our family has been slowly adjusting to our new life since moving up to Quesnel at the end of August. We love it here so far, especially the slower pace and quieter neighborhood. Winter hit early though and we have been scrambling to find good cold-weather gear for each of us. Carolanne does an amazing job finding good deals on gently used supplies.

Pray that God would help us make good connections in our neighborhood and church. Pray also for the kids as they are having some difficulty stepping out and making friends. And continue to pray for our fundraising efforts.

Thank you for continuing to pray for and support our family in our work with Power to Change. These past few months James has been working quite a lot with several of our overseas partnerships including China and Poland. Please pray for open doors in both of these countries as teams on the ground are seeking to build evangelistic online ministries through a variety of strategies.

At P2C::Digital Strategies we continue to develop the online mentoring platform as well as providing evangelistic tools and strategies for partners around the world. Pray that God would continue to grant us wisdom in ministry direction and effectiveness in reaching people with the gospel message.

On a personal note, we have successfully sold our place in Chilliwack and moved to a home in Quesnel. Thank you for your prayers for us in this.

We've Moved! https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2022/09/08/weve-moved Thu, 08 Sep 22 15:50:16 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=3035

A big THANK YOU to everyone who has been praying for us in our move! We have a new home!

We are SO thankful for this new place. We have been here a week as of Wednesday and so far we love it! Though the journey has been rocky and super stressful at times we're thrilled to be finally through and officially moved in.

Thank you for praying for us! We know there have been many who have prayed diligently as we have walked through this process.

A little about the journey so far...

The picture above is the new place that we bought in the small town of Quesnel, about 6.5 hours drive north of where we used to live in Chilliwack. Since my (James) work is entirely online, I can work from anywhere as long as there is good internet connectivity. We started this process back in March, packing boxes into a storage unit and then listing our house for sale in April. We both felt like this was the direction that God was leading us.

One cool example of this was on the day that we were having pictures taken of our place. I had been praying the days before that it would be sunny for the pictures. I really wanted the place to be presented well and so sunshine coming in the windows would be just perfect. But we woke up on the morning of pictures and it was very grey and POURING rain. Still, I hoped for a miracle, though looking outside wasn't very uplifting to my faith. Even 20 minutes before the photographer was scheduled to arrive it was still grey and raining.

Then, the Lord answered my prayer. When the photographer showed up and started taking pictures the rain stopped, the sky opened up, and sunshine shone through. There are very few times I have seen such obvious and unmistakable answers to my prayers, but this was one of them. I know it might seem trivial in the grand scheme of things, but it was very meaningful to me and it gave me a little glimpse of what might be to come.

So, we listed our place for sale and the real-estate market in Chilliwack promptly crashed.

The crash...

Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but not much of one. We've talked to real-estate people who say the market turned almost overnight. We lived in a very nice townhouse complex and we saw another place in the same complex sell very quickly shortly before us. In fact, there was a bidding war and it went for $50k over the asking price within a week. However that place was a real "fixer-upper" so to speak. Realtors might say it had "good bones" and just needed "a little elbow grease". We know it needed a LOT of work.

So, we listed slightly higher, thinking we would have no trouble selling our nice, move-in-ready place. We wanted to sell because we really wanted to get into a larger place, in a quieter area with more room for the kids to roam and play. Not to mention we anticipated that Ben would want to park a car on the driveway soon enough.

But then, after listing with high hopes, nothing happened. No offers. Very few showings. We started to wonder if we picked the wrong agent, but he seemed to be doing what he could. We even ran into a few other agents who said he had mentioned our place to them.

After a month and a half the realtor encouraged us to consider lowering our price. We grudgingly hacked a year's wages off the price tag and waited for the lower offers to flow in. We hoped that we had taken enough off to capture people's interest and maybe still get bids over what we were asking. Yet, still nothing.

After what seemed like years, we finally received a very low offer for our place in July. This was another $35k lower than what we had already lowered our price to. At first we did not want to consider it. It was too low. It was far less even than the dumpy unit that sold in the bidding war down the lane. It was almost an insult!

However, time was moving on, and since we were planning to go further north we really wanted to be moved into a new place before the snow hit. After more thought and prayer we decided to accept their offer. Not having any insight yet into where we might move, we agreed to a possession date for the end of August. That gave us 1.5 months to find a place, make an offer, verify all the particulars and do the move.

The search...

Throughout all of this we had already been looking for new places up in Quesnel. We chose this town because of a combination of factors. We love the climate and terrain. We really wanted to live in a smaller, quieter, more peaceful area. We were constantly running into folks who spoke highly of the town. We could almost afford a proper house here. And two of Carolanne's brothers already lived here. When my sister and brother-in-law decided to move up to Prince George, (1.5 hours north of Quesnel) that clinched the decision.

Having accepted the offer on our place, we searched for homes with even greater vigor. I had multiple realtors sending listings to me, along with several automated systems watching for any new place or development. I scoured hundreds of listings looking for just the right place. We even put offers in on a few of them, though we were usually out-bid by others.

I think the Lord continues to have a sense of humour because in the end, in spite of the automated internet robots alerting me to anything new, and the multiple realtors watching for possible places, and my own constant searching, it ended up being Carolanne who found this place while casually browsing on Facebook marketplace. I'm so glad she did!

We moved in on Aug. 31'st. Now we have begun the long and tedious process of unpacking boxes and figuring out where everything is going to go. There are a few little things around the house that need fixing or repairing (hot water tank, fridge and some painting to name a few) but in general the place has been well kept and we're very happy with where we have landed.

Thanks!!!

Thank you again for praying for us! We really have appreciated all the support that folks have expressed to us and how many people have prayed for us during this move. It's a big deal to move a family that far. The kids had never moved before, and Carolanne has never lived outside the Fraser Valley. Thankfully since we homeschool there is less school exchange stress. We are going to continue with the homeschooling. We're still not sure exactly how prepared we are for the imminent snow. But we know that God continues to be with us and we trust He is guiding our steps.

As mentioned above, I James am continuing to work as a missionary with Power to Change. That part of our lives has not changed. I still serve with the internet based ministry called Digital Strategies (under P2C) and spend most of my day writing computer code used by our ministry and others to present the gospel and mentor people around the world.

We also still have many friends and family members who donate regularly to support us financially in this ministry. We are super thankful for each one who gives so faithfully and generously to help advance this kingdom work. Thank you for your continued gifts and prayer.

Our ministry really depends on these gifts and donations from people who understand the opportunity and impact, and who give generously to support it. If you would like to give to help support this online ministry, click here to go to our secure ministry giving form.

Thanks again on behalf of all of us,

James

Prayer Update https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2022/08/05/prayer-update Fri, 05 Aug 22 09:09:29 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=3030

Dear Friends,

We are excited and encouraged to tell you that it looks like we have found a place to live! Thank you for praying!

We have made an offer on a house for sale in Quesnel and it has been accepted. We still need to do our due diligence to verify things like financing and getting an inspection done, but over all it looks very promising! We are very thankful that God is answering our (and your) prayers about this!

It is an older home and will need a few updates here and there, but over-all seems to be in decent condition and shouldn't require huge up-front expenses to make it move-in ready. We will find out if there are major issues we haven't noticed once the inspection has been completed.

Thank you so much for praying for us in this. It's been quite a journey over the past several months, first trying to sell our place, then needing to find a place to buy and sorting out movers and such. We're really glad to be able to finally see the big pieces falling into place.

Please continue to pray that everything goes smoothly from here on out. We know there are still a myriad of details to get sorted out.

We will try to keep you informed as things progress.

Special Prayer Request https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2022/07/29/special-prayer-request Fri, 29 Jul 22 11:42:25 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=3020

Dear Friends,

We have a special and urgent prayer request for you today.

Please pray with us that we can find a new place to live by Aug. 30.

Here's a bit of background to this. Earlier this year (maybe February or March) we decided that it would be a healthy decision for our family to sell our townhouse and move to a larger place. We have lived in our Chilliwack townhouse for 15 years now and with the kids growing up it is beginning to feel pretty small.

However, mainly due to housing prices and mortgage costs, we decided we could not afford to buy anything larger around here in the Fraser Valley. Any actual houses around here typically sell for double the value of our townhouse. Usually over $1 million, which is far beyond what we can possibly afford to buy or mortgage.

As such, we chose to look for places in Quesnel which is a small town around 7 hours drive north of here. Prices there seemed much more reasonable, we had two family relatives already living there, and a third family of relatives moving to Prince George. (about 1 hour further north)

So, mid-April we put our house on the market for sale, expecting that it would sell fairly quickly at a good price. Two other places in our complex sold very quickly, with multiple competing offers. Then we waited... and prayed... and waited... and prayed... and waited.

Finally 3 months later we decided to accept the only offer we had received, which was very low compared to what we listed at originally. Our realtor informed us that if we didn't accept this offer, the next would likely be lower. So, we sold our place with a completion date of Aug. 29'th.

Now we're in the complicated position of needing to find somewhere else to buy, and quickly. We can't really afford anything larger here in the Fraser Valley; most likely not even the same size as what we have had.

We would really love to find a place on acreage. There are a few of these in Quesnel but they still have pretty high pricetags and many are older or quite run-down.

At this point we're starting to feel pretty desperate. We thought this was the direction that God was leading us. There have been several things that have taken place in the process to point us in that direction, however the overall progress has felt painfully slow and really stressful on all of us.

Please pray that God would provide just the right place for us and really quickly.

Thank you!

James, Carolanne, Ben and Julia

Sept. 2020 Update https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2020/09/15/sept-2020-update Tue, 15 Sep 20 15:04:14 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2927

Dear Friends,

What a crazy summer it has been! I know I and my family are definitely ready for life to go back to some semblance of normal. I'm sure you are too. Seems like every month brings new calamities.

As I write this today, our skies here in Chilliwack are grey with wildfire smoke, and at times the air has an acrid taste. Just this week a train derailed nearby, and a large pier went up in flames an hour away in Vancouver. That's even apart from the whole Covid situation where some of our neighbors are quarantined awaiting test results, and any time I cough in public I look around guiltily wondering how people will react.

And yet, in all of this, God is still at work in the hearts and lives of people around the world. Our internet ministry has continued to grow dramatically over the past year. Spanish is becoming big right now with a group in Latin America starting to really use our software tools to reach Spanish speakers in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Another group pushing forward these days is Turkey. Several different Turkish strategies are being used to reach that area of the world by a group using our online mentoring system.

Yet another is Slovakia. A group there has used our IssuesIFace strategy as a template and developed https://mamproblem.sk to reach Slovak speakers. I'm glad we can partner with these folks, because my Slovak and Turkish is a bit rusty. :D

It's so cool to see God using the tools we create to reach people in countries I've never been and languages I can't even pronounce. Thank you for helping to support us in this ministry and allowing this to take place.

Prayer Requests

 • Please pray wisdom for us as we are in process of figuring out how to allow people to be mentored via more Instant Message style systems such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Text Messaging.
 • Please pray for more funding for both our personal support and that of the ministry. This is a tough time for everyone and fundraising is especially complicated.
 • Please pray for our family as we work through some health concerns.
 • Please pray for wisdom as we are homeschooling our kids again this year.

Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you also for your generosity with us through gifts and donations to our ministry.

These past several months I feel that God has been teaching me to continue to rely on him for our family needs and that He doesn't necessarily provide in the ways that I expect. He has been reminding me of the many ways in which He has graciously provided for us in the past and continues to do so today. Ministry Prayer Requests:
 • For patience, discernment and a break-through as we continue to struggle with Facebook repeatedly shutting down our advertising accounts. We had a brief restoration of the account and then they shut it down again.
 • For wisdom as we continue to develop partnerships with several other digital ministries who want to offer the online mentoring we provide to their visitors.
 • For greater reach, impact and effectiveness as we seek to lead people online closer to Jesus.
Thank you for your ongoing prayer and financial support of us in this ministry! * GlobalDAILY is the monthly prayer calendar of Central Heights Church global workers. Prayer Request https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2019/06/12/prayer-request Wed, 12 Jun 19 13:23:49 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2820 IssuesIFace.com website. To do this, we try to create ads that will reach people who struggle in the same areas that we write about on IssueIFace. This strategy has seen some amazing results, however recently Facebook decided that they didn't like what we were doing and proceeded to shut down our entire advertising account. As a result, the number of people writing in to us for help on that website has plummeted. Facebook has not been forthcoming with reasons as to WHY we were suddenly shut down, and when we have appealed (repeatedly) they have responded that the decision to shut us down is FINAL. They say that we are not acting in compliance with their advertising policies (which they seem to change often lately) but are not providing us with any specific policies that we have broken. Consequently, we are looking into other ways to reach people both online and offline. Please pray for us as we continue to work through this issue. We are continuing to try and restore the ads on Facebook but are also looking into as many other advertising avenues as we can brainstorm. Pray that:
 1. God would open the doors once again for us to advertise on Facebook.
 2. God would use this to make us even more effective in reaching a wider audience.
 3. God would bring partners to our ministry with additional means to reach people online with the hope of the Gospel.
Thank you for your prayers and support, James W]]>
Branching Into New Countries https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2019/04/09/branching-into-new-countries Tue, 09 Apr 19 21:46:09 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2791 The world is online, we help them know Jesus.

Just recently I had the opportunity to connect with a man leading a team in Jordan. They work to help facilitate connections between new believers and churches or individuals in the middle east who can help them take the next steps in their faith. This team is partnering with us to use our mentoring software to make some of these connections and has even volunteered to translate the platform into Arabic. This means we can have Arabic speaking mentors using the software in their own language and connecting with new Arabic speaking believers. In another initiative, one of our staff members with a heart for reaching Liberia has created a special Liberia edition of one of our evangelistic sites. He is in contact with a minister in Liberia who has planted 21 churches, leads a seminary, does some urban ministry on the streets of Monrovia, and is interested in trying our online strategy in his context. We used Facebook advertising to specifically reach people in that country with ads for that site and within 48 hours a $20 investment brought in 17 new people in need of mentoring. In the country of Indonesia a team has been working diligently to create their own translated and adapted version of our evangelistic IssuesIFace strategy called CeritakuCeritamu. They are focused on reaching people in-country using Bahasa Indonesia and connecting them with their own Indonesian speaking mentor. They are also translating the mentoring platform into Bahasa Indonesia in order that Indonesian mentors can use the platform in their own language and respond to people from their own country. You may have heard in previous letters that we were reaching people in the country of India as well. This strategy is continuing and has seen some really great responses and success. We are now working to translate the MyStruggles site into both Punjabi and Hindi in order to reach an even wider segment of the population. We are working with people in-country to provide the best possible resources. These are just a few of the many different strategies and partnerships we are currently working on or have developed. I didn't even mention Iowa, Singapore, Brazil or North Africa. One of our ministry's biggest needs right now is for more mentors. In the words of our Lord, the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. We really do need more mentors (and also staff) who have a heart for ministry and would like to help contribute to the fulfillment of Jesus' great commission. Please pray for more people to join us. If ministering to one of these countries I've mentioned touches your heart, please don't hesitate to connect with me for more details, or sign up to be a mentor at tmm.io. Thank you for listening! Thank you for praying! And thank you to those of you who give financially to help us continue in this ministry. Check out our blog for other updates and more personal family stories.]]>

Since we were in the area, we also took the opportunity to visit the West Edmonton Mall with the kids and see the various activities they had there. Even I learned something new, never knowing before that there is a roller-coaster park inside the mall as well as the ice-rink, water-park, seal show and apparently a petting-zoo which we never found. The kids of course were almost immediately attracted to the Disney store and Build-a-Bear. We even ended up visiting the Edmonton zoo for free since our Fraser Valley zoo pass also works out there. The main zoo attraction for us was Lucy the elephant who apparently roams the zoo outside her enclosure for large portions of the day. For the last portion of our trip, we went to Drumheller to see the dinosaur museum and attractions they had in that area. For a small town, they sure had some big dinosaurs... See the kids just between it's toes? :) After returning from Alberta, my next destination was to be Hamilton, ON for our Power to Change Staff Conference. Normally this is something I am required to go to and is usually a great time of reconnecting as a team and being refreshed as an organization. We hear about progress and events from other ministries and are refocused in vision as an organization. This year however, was different. I had already purchased my tickets for WestJet and had even checked in online so I would be ready to board, but the night before I was to leave I started having some severe pain in my side and back with what felt like a kidney stone. I had already had another batch of pain and trips to the emergency room a few days before, and they had sent me home with a prescription for pain killers, but I was hoping the pain had passed. However, the night (or actually early morning) that I was supposed to leave, I had to make the decision to cancel the flight, and instead go back into the emergency room. This time they kept me for several hours, took various tests, blood-work and a CT scan. Long-story short, I have several kidney stones, one of which is causing the pain, and several more tests and scans to complete over the coming weeks. ? ?

A Ministry Story:

A couple weeks ago, we received a message that was sent in from our issuesiface.com website in which a lady (I'll call her Sarah) shared that her relationship with her boyfriend was headed in entirely the wrong direction. She didn't ask for any specific prayer or information... just shared her concern with us, an anonymous online website. Our system estimated that Sarah was from Kenya, and as such matched her up with another female mentor on our team who is ALSO from Kenya. After some discussion about the relationship with this boyfriend, the mentor asked Sarah about her relationship with God. The mentor shared that our relationship with God is broken as well and that He wants us to be committed to Him, just as we want commitment in relationships with others. She asked if Sarah had ever made a commitment to God.
Yes. I would like to make a commitment. I really need God in my life.
Sarah's response was exactly as you see above. This gave the mentor an open invitation to share with her what it meant to be committed to God. Using her training and a template we provided as a starting point, the mentor was able to share a very clear message with Sarah about what it means and how to commit her life to Christ. Sarah has written back to her mentor and shared that she is "ready to begin a life with Christ". They continue the conversation to this day.

Prayer Requests:

Please pray for us in the following areas.
 1. That the ministry would continue to grow in effectiveness as we form new partnerships and seek out new and more creative ways to reach people with God's love using the internet.
 2. That more people would be inspired to join our staff in reaching the world with the gospel.
 3. For staff and family health. We have several staff members (including myself) who are undergoing at times severe health issues and concerns.
 4. Wisdom, patience, unity and grace for our family as we will soon enter another year of homeschooling our kids.
Thank you so much for continuing to hold our family up in prayer. We really appreciate having such an amazing team of friends and supporters standing with us in this ministry. Sincerely, James & Carolanne]]>
Ministering In India And Expecting Twins https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2018/03/22/india-and-twins Fri, 23 Mar 18 15:09:32 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2697 Partnerships In India Our team has been busy the past few months, and one of the biggest developments has been the formation of several partnerships with groups and lay-leaders serving on the ground in India. ?? The nation of India is a huge potential mission-field with a population of 1.3 billion people with only 2.3% claiming Christianity as their religion.* We are in the process of building partnerships with several different groups right now who would like to use our mentoring software to reach and mentor people in their respective areas of India and Bangladesh. ? Please pray for these partnerships, that the Lord would use the folks on the ground, and the tools we provide, to share the love of Christ with many in the nation of India. Pray especially for our director Sheldon as he and a small team will be traveling out there to meet with leaders in-country and finalize some of the details required to allow this ministry to happen. * Source: Wikipedia Donation Matching Update A few months ago I mentioned that there is a special donor who has partnered with The Life Project to financially match any gifts that we are able to raise, up to $100,000. This gift has been a HUGE blessing to our whole team and we have all been working together to take this opportunity to raise funds in order to take advantage of the matching. Essentially it has meant that every additional donation we receive is duplicated with a gift to The Life Project. ? ? I am really excited to tell you that working together as a team we have raised the full $100,000! In fact, the donor making the match has been quite impressed and has pledged an additional $50,000 until the end of June. ? ? As part of this funding drive, Carolanne and I have personally been praying for and trying to raise an additional $250/month in monthly support. Though one-time gifts are VERY helpful, these monthly donations are especially critical to us, since we are still a long way from having our full monthly support. Encouraging Stories What would a newsletter be without "stories from the field"?! ? Since my role on the team is very technical, I went looking for a good story from one of our more "front-line" staff. I found this, which reminded me again why I do this work. This was written by one of our online chat coordinators:
One of the greatest joys so far this quarter is the salvation of an expectant teenager who came into the room in January, fearful that she'd be pushed into an abortion. That first evening, she accepted Christ as her Savior. The next day her boyfriend came to the room and made the decision to follow Christ as well. Soon she reported that she'd been to a pregnancy resource center where she'd joined a Bible study and was getting help. The last I heard, they had gotten married and had found out that she's expecting twins. Both of these young people come from homes where parents do not yet know the Lord, so do join us in prayer for their salvation.
Praise the Lord ? ? for how He continues to work every day through the faithful service of our team using the tools I have the honor of helping to build. Thank you for your part in allowing us to be a part of this ministry. Prayer Requests ? We truly appreciate the great team of friends, supporters and prayer warriors who stand with us in this ministry. We are reminded quite often that we couldn't do this job without you. Please continue to pray for us in the following areas:
 • Sheldon's trip to India (see above)
 • More technical staff We are looking for a few more people to join our technical team. Specifically a front-end designer and a back-end programmer.
Lets Get Together! If you have any questions about our ministry, or would like to hear more, we would love to connect further. This conference is a great opportunity for the Canadian staff from across the country to come together for a week of renewed vision, training and celebration of what God has been doing through the various ministries in the organization. We meet together daily in worship and also attend various break-out sessions throughout the week. All Commissioned and Associate staff members are required to attend. This year we will be encouraged by the speaking of Gary Thomas, author of several books, including Sacred Marriage, Sacred Parenting, Sacred Pathways and Authentic Faith. His books and ministry focus on spiritual formation: how we can integrate Scripture, church history, and the time-tested wisdom of the Christian classics into our modern experience of faith. This event is something that we raise funds for in order to be able to attend. Would you prayerfully consider giving financially to help cover the cost of my attending this conference? Pray for our families, many of whom remain at home during this week. Carolanne and the kids will be remaining in Chilliwack while I am away. Thank you for considering this opportunity. Please don't feel any pressure in this either way. We truly appreciate having you as part of our ministry team. Wishing you all the best, James & Carolanne]]> Feb-Mar 2016 Newsletter https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2016/02/22/march-update Mon, 22 Feb 16 15:48:12 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2399 I hope you receive this. It has been incredible how God has used you in my life, particularly in the seasons of deep need. I have seen God be instrumental through you to reveal His hand of healing truth, love, and comfort. I will miss our times of communication, you mean a lot to me. Thank you for always being there to listen and give wisdom and discernment, especially to pray for me. My life has changed for the better for having your support and encouragement. Thank you so much for praying for and supporting us in this ministry. It is amazing to see how God uses my small part in this to touch the lives of people literally around the world. We even receive messages from people in places such as Iraq, Syria, India and China. It's so cool to be able to play a part in that sort of impact. Thank you for allowing us to continue to be a part of this ministry. Thank you for your prayer, and thank you for your financial help. Some Numbers For The Statistically Minded: For the 2015 fiscal year (July 1, 2014 - June 30, 2015) we saw the following: Incoming Messages Matched To Mentors: 83,537 Active Mentors: 1065 at fiscal end Chat Room Participants: 122,585 Indicated Decisions for Christ: 13,271 Organization Updates: As you may have heard, for the past while Power to Change has been searching for someone to fill the role of President. Rod Bergen was previously holding the Interim President position during the search, and has now accepted the full role of President of Power to Change. Additionally, Sheldon Kotyk has taken the reins of Director of The Life Project which is the ministry that I serve. Our mission statement is The world is online. We help them know Jesus. Read more about our team here. Support Status Update: As many of you know, my work with Power to Change is funded by monthly financial donations given by people like yourself who stand with me in the work that I do. I am very grateful for this team of donors and prayer supporters who allow me to continue working with the ministry. To date, my support level is around 50% of what it should be based on Power to Change guidelines of my salary and expenses. In light of the deficit, The Life Project has generously contributed a portion of the remainder to cover my ongoing salary. (being a non-profit, this basically means that someone else has had to raise the money on my behalf) The expectation is that I continue to try and raise the remaining amount as monthly donations. Please continue to pray that God will provide for our financial needs. For the past year or so I have also been working a second job (in addition to my full-time at PtC) to help with our family finances. Family Update: As a family, we have been doing very well. Carolanne continues to homeschool the kids and meets regularly with other homeschooling moms and groups in town for field trips and socializing times. We have quite a variety of homeschool related projects that take place around our house such as rock collections and research, hatching baby chicks, math assignments and lots of trips to the library to check out the latest reading materials. The kids are growing fast and have been quite excited about the prospect of going to Disneyland in a few months. We wanted to take them while they were at the right age to enjoy it, so we have been saving as a family for a few years now, and plan to go down later this spring with Grampy and Grammy. We hope to also visit some of our other family members and supporters in San Diego while in the neighborhood. Final Thoughts & Prayer Requests: Thank you again for standing with us in this ministry. Both Carolanne and I are very encouraged to have such faithful friends supporting us in prayer and financially. Please continue to pray about our financial situation. God has been so very faithful in providing for all our needs, and yet it still always seems to be a point of stress in our lives. Maybe He is still teaching us patience and reliance on Himself. Please pray also for our core team. (The Life Project) There has been quite a lot of change lately with financial cut-backs, and people being let go or moving on to other fields, and systems requiring changes, and leadership changes. Please pray for unity in the team and for God's provision for our ministry as a whole. Finally, please pray for our mentors. They truly are the front-line of the ministry, serving the people who come asking for help, and walking with them on the next steps of their spiritual journey. Please pray that they would be encouraged in their relationships. Often the mentors write to visitors and never get a response. Other times the "prayer requests" are so shallow or short that they almost seem to not be worth responding. And yet in some cases, some of our coolest salvation stories have come from short (or even empty) messages we have received from people who turned out to be in some far off country looking for help but unable to express it clearly. Thank you again, All the best, James & Carolanne Ben & Julia]]>
