Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the of my life, and make me the kind of person You want me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.” After sending this, along with her own prayer for the visitor, the mentor asked if the person had prayed this prayer at some point in their life, or just recently after receiving it. The response from the visitor: "Is my first time"! And their conversation continues. Praise the Lord for this new life changed forever. Please continue to pray for this mentor, and all our mentors, as they respond daily to people like this who are searching the Internet for answers and hope. The to-do's could wait for a while. Jesus said, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men," so I prayed that He would guide me, to instruct me in the way that I should go. I asked Him to take the lead. I entered the chat room to see a pain-filled nick, and upon inquiry the chatter shared she was there "for matters of the heart." What an open door! I shared how "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Ps. 34:18)
She said, “All those times I've found so much meaning and hope in that typical christian ritual, but ive never felt truly connected to God." I offered to share with her how she could begin that relationship through the work that Jesus had done on our behalf, and this dear lady from the Far East received Jesus Christ as her Savior. We rejoice!

I told him that I would certainly pray for him and then I explained how sin builds a barrier between us and God and that when we commit our lives to Christ God gives us a fresh start. I asked him if he would like to remove those barriers. He wrote "please help me to remove them .. Thanks. God bless" I then shared the gospel and asked if he had prayed to accept Christ. He wrote "yes i did" We continue...

Saved from Suicide https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2013/09/06/saved-from-suicide Fri, 06 Sep 13 15:41:16 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2035 A Few Encouraging Stories [and a newsletter change] https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2013/08/30/a-few-encouraging-stories Fri, 30 Aug 13 12:21:18 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=2026 This morning, as I was going through some of the stories that have come in the past few days, I am reminded that people are continually showing up at our doorstep looking for answers to their life issues. It's a tremendous opportunity to engage in conversation and share Christ! We are continually looking for creative, dynamic and effective ways to share Christ with others. People are alone. They need someone to talk to and often they have no idea where to go. We are positioned in such a way that we can be there for them. This opens a tremendous door of opportunity to engage in spiritual conversations with people through their areas of need. Here is an incredible story of how a lonely person came to us for help. Through the role of one of our mentors, this person came to know Jesus!
"I'm at the lowest point in my life. I feel lonely, unloved, and misunderstood. I am feeling worthless and confused... I pray that God helps me get through this…"
A mentor spoke her telling her how sorry she felt that way but that God felt just the opposite about her and that He wanted to have a person relationship with her. (she talked to her about her feelings and then shared the prayer). The mentee responded "Wow thank you so much for the prayer. On that Tuesday specifically, I felt so much better. I did read the prayer out loud and have accepted Jesus as my Savior ...I have been overwhelmed by my worries this past month that I have not been going to God as often as I should and that has probably made the difference. I will surely turn to the Bible for help and hopefully find a church community here for good support. Thanks for the advice. Reading this really made my day." Here is another story of one of our mentees expressing the difficulty of finding a good Christian mentor:
"Oh boy. Today after I sent that email, asking for help. I said to myself 'I really suck at this whole Christian thing', I felt like giving up all together. I had felt so helpless because everyone knows me as the 'christian kid'. I couldn't ask a pastor, older adult, or even my own parents for help, because I didn't want to disappoint anyone. But this organization is amazing. God is doing good things through you and Teen Hope Line. I've always know that 'God loves me' and 'He died for my sins', but I had never really felt it. But through God, your words spoke to me. I actually wrote some of them down in my journal. I feel changed. I feel the Holy Spirit revived in me. God has given me the strength to carry on more than ever. Thank you so much for your inspiring words. May God bless you."
God is at work in this ministry! Would you keep us in your prayers?]]>

I am always inspired when I hear the stories of how my work is helping others lead people to Christ. One of my roles is in serving other missionaries within the ministry, building and maintaining the systems that they use to share Christ with people who come to the websites. I always find it encouraging when I hear of how tools I build or maintain are being used to lead people to salvation. Stories like this email that we received recently from a person who was led to the Lord in our chat room... “i prayed with someone named (chat mentor) tonight and peace came over my whole heart and body and my heart is calm and she talked with me that God doesn't give up on you like my mom told me, he doesn't and she just made me feel so much better and encouraged me so much tonight.” Thank you for your prayer for me and my family as I serve in this way with Power to Change. Thank you for praying, and thank you for giving. We have been so blessed to have you and the church standing behind us in this work. Please continue to pray for our complete financial support, as well as for God's ongoing guidance for our team.]]> Easter... What's the big deal? https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2013/03/30/easter-whats-the-big-deal Sat, 30 Mar 13 15:37:32 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=1860 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. So, to be saved, you simply have to pray, confessing that you have sinned, asking for forgiveness and believing that Jesus Christ as the son of God has paid for your sin.  If you don't know what to say, here is a sample prayer.  It's not a formula ... you can use your own words, but it's a place to start...
Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.
If you have prayed this prayer, I'd love to hear about it and celebrate with you.  If you have more questions, feel free to check out some of the resources we have at Power to Change.  If you want to read about Jesus life and more detail of what I've written above, you could read the book of Luke in the Bible.  Read it here online.]]>
