Our part has been primarily on the website side of things, developing the software pieces needed. Pray that God would use this strategy for His glory and that many would come to know Him as a result of it. The second major item we've worked on is a partnership with Jesus Daily. Jesus Daily is the largest page on FaceBook, with a weekly reach of around 45 million people. The details are still being worked out but it sounds like we will be responding to a lot of the messages that come in from people on FaceBook who are seeking God's help in their lives. Pray that God would give us wisdom as the last details of this partnership are hammered out and that His will would be done in this. Finally, please continue to pray for funding, both for Carolanne and I in our personal part of the ministry, as well as for TruthMedia as a whole. These sites are geared for churches and individual believers who are wanting to grow in their faith and take the next steps in their spiritual journey. We are also participating in a major outreach during the Calgary Stampede this year. Please pray for us in the following areas:
  1. For the ministry currently taking place on TheLife.com. Many Christians are using TheLife.com to take a stand for what they believe and publicly declare that they are following Jesus with all that they are and have. Please pray for them in this, that God would use each one mightily for His glory.
  2. For those who are taking the 35 day challenge. Built on the technology powering TheLife.com, the 35 Day Challenge is a five week long faith adventure where the participants are taught to share their faith with three other people in their lives. Please pray for the 600+ people currently taking this challenge.
  3. For additional financial support. Carolanne and I are still lacking quite a bit of support. So far TruthMedia has been covering most of the shortfall however the ministry itself is also quite low on funds. Please pray that God would provide the support we need.
]]> Recent Activities: The 35 Day Challenge https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2012/04/20/35-day Fri, 20 Apr 12 16:27:48 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=1632 35 Day Challenge The past few weeks/months have seen our team incredibly busy with a new initiative called the 35 Day Challenge.  Designed as an evangelism training solution for Christians, the 35 day challenge can help you walk through the steps needed to learn how to share your faith effectively with other people. My part of this work has been in building the website and programming the technology that allows the website to function properly.  (yes, if you find bugs, you can mention them to me.  :) )  It has been quite a major process but it's been really rewarding to see all the people who have already joined from many different parts of the world including some very "closed" countries. The general idea of the site is to encourage believers to take new steps in their faith and to teach them very practical ways that they can begin to share their faith effectively with others.  Now that most of the technology has been created, we have started to challenge churches to consider taking their members through it. One such church that has started this process is Centre Street Church in Calgary, AB. The 35 Day Challenge was also featured this week on CanadianChristianity.com! Many years ago in high-school I wrote a mission statement for my life and it read something like this:
I intend to do God’s will for my life when ever, where ever, and what ever, for His glory, in regards to my calling, those I date, my future wife, my future family, and my job. I intend to put His will first in every aspect of my existence and want to honour Him with all my life.
In helping to develop thelife.com I have felt honoured and blessed to have been given the opportunity to do exactly that, and to help design something which would allow others to make similar commitments. Developing the website for this challenge has taken the vast majority of my time for the past few months meaning I've had little time to focus on much of anything else.  It has been a difficult project, but very rewarding as now there are already over 500 people who have joined. My prayer requests for this site would be for God to use it powerfully in the lives of believers around the world and that it would not only result in Christians getting serious about their faith,  but also in many others being told about God's good news of great joy that is for all people.]]> Global Daily - Jan. 2012 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/2011/12/22/global-daily-jan-2012 Wed, 21 Dec 11 11:16:19 +0000 https://ptc.jamesandcarolanne.com/?p=1567 Question: Tell us something from your childhood or early adult years which God has used to specially prepare you for who you are and what you're doing now. I (James) have often wondered at how God has led me through life thus far. I was born a missionary kid in Indonesia and I believe God has often used that to shape who and where I am today. Growing up as an M.K. I always assumed I would work in missions some day. I knew that God had given me a passion for using technology, but I didn't know of many opportunities that combined technology with missions in the way I was hoping. My work with Power to Change and TruthMedia has brought much of that confusion into focus. I love that I have the opportunity to do something I really enjoy (working with new technology) while at the same time using my skills to make a difference for eternity. I feel like I have my dream job! I thank God that He has given me the privilege of serving Him in this way! That's not to say there aren't difficulties every day. Some days it's personal, family or health related. Other days it's technology not cooperating. Furthermore, for some yet unknown reason God has not yet seen fit to provide all our support, but we continue to trust that He will provide. In spite of everything though I feel very blessed to be able to do what I do. Our God is gracious and compassionate, rich in mercy and abounding in love. Prayer requests: Pray for the new initiative we're developing called “TheLife”. Pray that God would give us wisdom as we work through the details of how it should work.
