The Kids

Occasionally, people tell me that they wish they could see more of our kids and our family. So here's a more personal entry. My son is such a good big brother. He's four now, and Julia is two. Carolanne and I really enjoyed this clip of him trying to teach his sister how to use the Wii. He was trying to teach her to play the bowling game.

Cute moment from Ben

[caption id="attachment_951" align="aligncenter" width="150" caption=""you having fun byue puppy""][/caption] This was Ben after we got home from Uncle Phil and Aunt Elly's place this evening. He had dropped his puppy on the muddy ground while we were getting into the car and when we got home puppy was going to have a bath. James and I got a kick out of Ben looking into the washer and asking if he was having fun. He was...

Surgery Cancelled ... Due to Healing

On Wednesday June 16'th, I received a call I'd been anticipating for quite a while.  The call was from the specialist Dr's office, informing me that they had time to do my surgery if I could come on short notice. The background to all this is that back in March, after waiting for months to see him, the specialist informed me that I would need another corrective surgery in order to attempt once more to...

Family Update

[caption id="attachment_740" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Ben and Julia"][/caption] Well, since the beginning of the year we've had a number of interesting family adventures.  First off, Ben seems to have decided that his new years resolution is to allow himself to be potty trained.  Since Julia was born, he has refused to sit on the potty.  Now, since the new year, he has been perfectly fine to go on the potty, and has actually had very few...

Our Newest Family Member

[caption id="attachment_718" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Paint the bunny."][/caption] This Christmas, we have added (yet another) family member to our clan.  She is a couple months old, mottled grey and white and extremely soft.  Her name is 'Paint'. Yesterday evening we told Ben that we were going to go and get him a special present for Christmas.  We drove with him into Abbotsford to the pet store where we had previously put a deposit on this bunny,...

Surgery Results

This is just a quick update to let you know the results of the surgery I recently underwent.   As far as I have been informed, the surgery did go well, though apparently the Dr. had to perform an alternate surgery due to the fact that the problems were too deep to be resolved by his original plan. I had been told before the surgery that there was a 1 in 10 chance that he would...

Update on James' Surgery

This is just a quick update regarding the surgery that I (James) will need to have.  Just to clarify in case there was some miscommunication, the infection is not life threatening or anything like that (as far as I know).  It is just painful and inconvenient and makes certain aspects of life very difficult. The surgery has been scheduled for November 10'th and I will probably have to be in the hospital overnight.  The reason...

Our Newest Family Member

[caption id="attachment_678" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Julia Rebecca Anne Warkentin"][/caption] We are very excited to announce the newest member of our family.  Her name is Julia Rebecca Anne Warkentin and she came into this world on Sunday morning Oct. 4'th at 10:19 am.  She initially weighed in at 7 pounds 10 ounces and measured 51.5 cm.  Both baby and mommy seem to be doing well, and we were permitted to leave the hospital 24 hours after birth....

Additional Surgery

A number of months ago, I wrote about the fact that I had to go for emergency surgery due to a large abscess that I developed.  At that time, I was told that there was a 1 in 4 chance that I might need additional surgery to further correct the problem after 3 months.  About a month ago, I went for a follow-up visit to the doctor who confirmed that I was probably one of...

James' Surgery and Recovery

On Monday July 13'th I (James) was admitted to the emergency room here in Chilliwack General Hospital around dinner time, due to excessive swelling of an infection I had been fighting with antibiotics over the weekend.  After having a number of doctors examine it, I was diagnosed with a very large, very deep absess which would need to be opened and drained.  I was scheduled for surgery that same evening at 9:00 PM and due...

The Boat

Well, I'm not certain if missionaries are allowed to do stuff like this, but I've recently become the new owner of an old boat. [gallery link="file" columns="2"] On Tuesday evening when I got home from work, my wife suggested that we go look at a surprise that she had for me.  So, we headed out down a road near our place until we got to a driveway with a boat on it.  We pulled in...
