Surgery and Ministry Update

Well it seems that God has other plans for my life than to be healed.  About a week after my surgery was cancelled, the problem reappeared.  Please continue to pray that things would improve and/or heal completely.  Please pray also for us as this process has been quite frustrating.  I'm stuck working from home again due to this and while I've been able to see the positive sides of things, it would still be better...

Not Just for Seekers

One of the aspects of our ministry that is often missed when presenting what we do is the "Christian" side of things.  Though we do work very hard to lead people to discover Christ, we ALSO develop a large number of resources intended to help existing believers grow in their faith, share their faith with others and teach them to inspire others to share their faith.  In Power to Change lingo we refer to those...

Surgery Cancelled ... Due to Healing

On Wednesday June 16'th, I received a call I'd been anticipating for quite a while.  The call was from the specialist Dr's office, informing me that they had time to do my surgery if I could come on short notice. The background to all this is that back in March, after waiting for months to see him, the specialist informed me that I would need another corrective surgery in order to attempt once more to...

San Diego

As some of you may already know, we recently took a family trip with our parents (Loren and Becky) down to San Diego to visit supporters and relatives and reconnect with the friends at Mission Valley Community Chapel. This was our first time travelling any sort of long distance with the kids. We were not quite sure what to expect but as it turns out they travel VERY well.  Julia was an angel for most...

Atheist Disappointed in God

We have often talked about how there are so many people who come to our websites for help or with serious questions about life and faith, but hearing numbers just isn't as effective as hearing the actual stories of people we interact with. I received this note recently from our director and though it might be something you would be interested in hearing as well. Earlier today “AwesomeAtheist” came into our chat room and began...

Power to Change in French and Chinese

I thought I would post a quick update on what I've been working on lately for those who might be interested.  Be warned, there is some "geek talk" ahead. One of the cool projects that I have the opportunity to work on these days is the rebuilding of our French and Chinese sites as new Power to Change sites. This not only gets us out of the obsolete software we had previously been using, but...

New Email System

I would like to sincerely apologize for the undesirable ads you may have received in my previous email newsletter. Until now I have been using a free, automated, email distribution service that took care of managing my email newsletter subscribers as well as automatically sending out my newsletters when I posted them on our ministry blog. Unfortunately, because it was "free" they also would include advertisements on the bottoms of my newsletters and the one...

Family Update

[caption id="attachment_740" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Ben and Julia"][/caption] Well, since the beginning of the year we've had a number of interesting family adventures.  First off, Ben seems to have decided that his new years resolution is to allow himself to be potty trained.  Since Julia was born, he has refused to sit on the potty.  Now, since the new year, he has been perfectly fine to go on the potty, and has actually had very few...

Surgery Results

This is just a quick update to let you know the results of the surgery I recently underwent.   As far as I have been informed, the surgery did go well, though apparently the Dr. had to perform an alternate surgery due to the fact that the problems were too deep to be resolved by his original plan. I had been told before the surgery that there was a 1 in 10 chance that he would...

Update on James' Surgery

This is just a quick update regarding the surgery that I (James) will need to have.  Just to clarify in case there was some miscommunication, the infection is not life threatening or anything like that (as far as I know).  It is just painful and inconvenient and makes certain aspects of life very difficult. The surgery has been scheduled for November 10'th and I will probably have to be in the hospital overnight.  The reason...

Our Newest Family Member

[caption id="attachment_678" align="alignnone" width="400" caption="Julia Rebecca Anne Warkentin"][/caption] We are very excited to announce the newest member of our family.  Her name is Julia Rebecca Anne Warkentin and she came into this world on Sunday morning Oct. 4'th at 10:19 am.  She initially weighed in at 7 pounds 10 ounces and measured 51.5 cm.  Both baby and mommy seem to be doing well, and we were permitted to leave the hospital 24 hours after birth....

Staff Conference 2009

Well, it's that time of year once again when we get ready to go to the annual P2C Staff Conference.  Actually, it's usually a lot of fun and a great time of refreshing, spiritual renewal and renewed vision of where we are heading as an organization.  I find that it really helps us to be more connected to the organization as a whole and gives us the opportunity to hear about all the cool things...

James' Surgery and Recovery

On Monday July 13'th I (James) was admitted to the emergency room here in Chilliwack General Hospital around dinner time, due to excessive swelling of an infection I had been fighting with antibiotics over the weekend.  After having a number of doctors examine it, I was diagnosed with a very large, very deep absess which would need to be opened and drained.  I was scheduled for surgery that same evening at 9:00 PM and due...

Encouraging Thoughts on Evangelism

I was realizing that I had not written anything for a while, so I thought I would take this opportunity to send you a little encouragement.  This morning, we had a TruthMedia monthly strategy meeting to discuss our direction as a team and encourage each other through hearing stories and updates on what the various areas of the team are doing.  As part of this meeting, we had Leonard Buhler come and encourage us in...
